Tips from practice
Cleaning the glass: a damp cloth dipped in cold wood ash removes soot without chemicals. Disposing of ash: let wood ash cool completely, collect in a metal container; pure wood ash is suitable as garden fertiliser in small quantities. Measuring residual moisture: a simple wood moisture meter shows in seconds whether firewood is below 20 %. More practical knowledge in the guides.
